Behind this link is an amazing story of tech support in Medieval times. As you watch, consider whether all our fancy newfangled text storage systems are actually better than the books, or merely more complicated. (Y’all already know what I think–that there is no more reliable or easier to use system than a bound sheaf of double-sided printed pages with numerical labels, plus table of contents and index–but that’s just my two cents in a very large and potentially pricey debate.)
Enjoy! (And have a great weekend.)

I think everyone else is just blinded by the Gutenbergian system of monopolistic “codices.” The Justice Department’s done nothing to break up this illegal trust, and the makers of these codices refuse to acknowledge that their system is more vulnerable than other systems to viruses such as worms and rain. Furthermore, they have illegally colluded with the makers of ink, pen, paper, and printing press to ensure that our tools are only calibrated for their system. Meanwhile, people are being duped and led away from the only system that is nearly impervious to deterioration and can adapt from environment to environment – cuneiform tablets! Sure, it takes a little more work, but isn’t the stability of your civilization worth it?
